Rob Hoiting

Counseling Intern

As an intern in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, I look forward to the opportunity to accompany you on your journey of healing and growth while you create a life worth living. My professional experience has taken me from Fortune 500 corporations to local nonprofits, from a cattle ranch on the Western Slope to now pursuing an M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Adams State University. The greatest lesson I learned along the way is that people matter the most. Attending our own inner work is not only an act of self-care but the greatest way of ensuring that we can show up for others with respect, compassion and love.

I use a strengths-based, trauma-informed, and person-centered approach to help you explore all the ways that you have been successful thus far, and discover opportunities to be even more effective as you acquire new insight and skills. Dr. Peter Levine, a prominent researcher and author, once said, “The human animal is a unique being endowed with an instinctual capacity to heal and the intellectual spirit to harness this innate capacity.” This summarizes so well my belief that you are the expert on yourself and thus you are instilled with the ability to heal and grow.

Outside the office, you’ll most often find me in the mountains – skiing with my husband or hiking with our dog – or curled up with our cat attempting to get through my very long reading list!
