Interpersonal Relationships Therapy for Better Friendships
An important aspect of communication is attentive listening, if you listen more than you talk, you have already done the most important part of communicating. By listening first, you can understand how the other person feels and empathize with them.
People tend to think that communication is easy, you have done it since you were probably two or three years old and haven’t stopped communicating. People have several forms of communication from verbal to non-verbal but it’s not an everyday thought or worry. However, more and more issues arise from not being able to communicate properly, if only people knew how to communicate properly, these issues could be avoided.

How can we help you have better interpersonal relationships?
One word can change the whole outcome of a situation, one word can take a good scenario to an undesirable scenario. So it is very important to keep calm and know how to handle each situation accordingly.
We use a short-term, solution-focused approach. In the first session, we can identify the problem, in this case, your interpersonal relationships problem, problems with communication, listening skills, identifying and using feeling words, among other problems you may have. Our therapists will go through different scenarios and teach you the appropriate way to handle each one.
Different type of statements
People tend to communicate using the word “you”, however, this word is often accusative. Making people feel defensive, guilty, as if their needs are not important, making them reluctant to go along with any solutions or changes you may have in mind.
Using the word “I” changes the tone from accusative to more trustful and understanding. Try using “I” statements followed by a “you” statement. For example, say, “I feel sad when you leave.” instead of saying, “You always leave me.” If you’d like to know more examples and learn how to handle situations better, come visit us!
