Am I able to use my out-of-network insurance benefits?
Yes, just let your therapist know and we will provide you with a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company. You would pay us up front, and then your insurance company would reimburse you directly based on your plan’s out-of-network benefits.
Do you accept EAP?
We are not in-network with any EAP companies.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept credit cards, debit cards, HSA cards, cash, and check for payment.
Is the fee the same for couples counseling and for individual counseling?
No, the fee is different for couples/family counseling and for individual counseling. Please see Insurance and Fees page for more information about our current rates.
How many sessions will I need and how frequently will we meet?
This is determined on a case-by-case basis with your therapist. Many clients notice improvement within 12 sessions. On average, clients work with us from 3-6 months but this can vary. It is common to meet with your therapist weekly, but frequency is determined in collaboration with your therapist based on your needs.
How long do sessions last?
The standard therapeutic hour is 53 minutes/1 hour. Our couples and family intake sessions are 90 minutes in length to ensure sufficient time for all attending. You and your therapist may determine the need for a shorter or longer session which varies by case and is on an as-needed basis.
Do your therapists prescribe medication?
No, we do not currently have any medication providers on staff. We are happy to provide referrals for medication providers in the area.
What is the difference between a counseling intern, a counseling trainee, a candidate, and a fully licensed therapist?
Our student interns are currently completing their masters program in counseling and doing an internship with us as part of their program. They are under supervision by a licensed therapist on our staff as well as an instructor at their school. A counseling trainee is the same as an intern, but they are an employee and will be seeing clients at our practice for longer than an intern typically will. A candidate has completed their masters program and are provisionally licensed for a period of time where they are under supervision as required by the state before they are eligible to be fully licensed. They are under supervision by a licensed therapist on our staff. A fully licensed therapist has their masters degree and has completed all of the state’s requirements for licensure.

What is EMDR therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy technique that is primarily used to address trauma and reprocess traumatic events in a healthier way. EMDR enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences by utilizing bilateral stimulation of the brain. EMDR therapy shows that the mind can heal from psychological trauma much as the body recovers from physical trauma. If the system is blocked or imbalanced by the impact of a disturbing event, the emotional wound festers and can cause intense suffering. Once the block is removed, healing resumes. Using the detailed protocols and procedures learned in EMDR therapy training sessions, clinicians help clients activate their natural healing processes. EMDR is different than talk therapy and is often used in conjunction with talk therapy.
How many EMDR sessions will I need?
The number of sessions depends upon the specific problem and client history.
Your EMDR therapist will first assess and then equip you with the skills to begin EMDR therapy and reprocess the traumatic event(s). While every disturbing event need not be processed, the number of sessions will depend upon the complexity of your history as well as the support and resources that are in place. The therapist will explore these pieces with you and create an individualized treatment approach catered to your needs and the traumas to be reprocessed. Studies have shown that a single trauma can be reprocessed within 3 sessions in 80-90% of participants, but each individual’s treatment is focused on their specific needs.
